Careers Week 2026 kicks off today at CILEX Law School

Careers Week Schedule March 2026 1.pdfCILEX Law School’s Careers Week starts today (23–27 March), bringing together legal professionals, academics and members of the judiciary to share their experiences, insights and advice with the next generation of legal talent.

Across the week, students will have the opportunity to explore different areas of legal practice, hear real career journeys, and engage with key topics shaping the profession today — from working in local government law to the future of jury trials.

Whether you’re just starting out or already progressing through your studies, Careers Week is designed to help you better understand your options and take the next step with confidence.

What’s happening this week?

The programme includes a mix of recorded and live sessions:

  • Monday 23 March – A recorded session with Jenna Hamilton-Pursglove, Partner and Head of Residential Property at Kitson Boyce, sharing insights from her career in conveyancing and residential property law.
  • Tuesday 24 March – A live event with Andrew Lee, Assistant Director of Legal Governance at Manchester City Council, exploring careers in local government law.
  • Wednesday 25 March – A live academic debate, “Jury Trials: Safeguarding Democracy or Hindering Justice?”, led by Judith Bourne and Nick Easterman.
  • Thursday 26 March – A live session with District Judge Baffa (Magistrates’ Court), offering insight into his career and the judicial pathway.
  • Friday 27 March – A chance to explore the Career Development Hub, featuring career quizzes, job profiles and personalised guidance tools.

Get involved

Students who attend at least two live events during the week will receive a Digital Certificate of Participation, which can be added to a CV or LinkedIn profile.

All sessions can be accessed and booked through the Career Development Suite on the Hub.
